Adding a post is very simple. All you have to do is log in, click on POSTS, then ADD NEW, and voila!
To create the post, first you must enter a title, then, enter the information you want to share.
You will be able to add links, and pictures, or a gallery.
You can also embed here different content, such as a YouTube, or if you are selling your art, you can add the code for a PayPal button.
If you are adding a YouTube video, please, don’t add videos that have nothing to do with art, just because they are funny or something like that, make sure the content you are providing is related to your art, or some other artist, an art show, an art lesson, etc.
Read carefully the icon on the message box, they will help you add the content you want.
Select a Category
The most important part of Adding a post is selecting the correct CATEGORY, so that visitors can find it quickly.
We have created a number of CATEGORIES, that we believe, would be the most useful. If the category you are looking for is not there, please contact the administrator.
If you do not choose a category, the default one is “Updates;” however, this can result on visitors unable to find what they are looking for, so, please, ALWAYS make sure you pick a category.
The current categories are:
Art Contests: Post any art contests that you might now about. The contests could be international, national and local.
Artist Notes: Any information that you might find relevant for artists of art lovers: it could include art finds, or information about a technique, etc.
Buy directly from the artists: If you are selling your art, select this category. You can either post a message with information about your art, and a picture of you can post an item that cna be bought directly with a PayPal button.
Events: Add information about an event. It could be a review, a recommendation, information about your own show, information about other events somehow related to art (art fair, art auction, and more), etc.
Featured Artists: Information about a specific artist that belongs to ArtOnline101. In general, the administrator will be the one adding posts here.
Places to visit: Do you know of any unusual (or usual) place that presents art? A coffee shop? a museum? a gallery? if you know of a place where visitors can be exposed to art in any form, then, write a piece on it and post it under this category.
Resources: This category serves as a directory of useful places for artists to visit, such as stores, online stores, discount art supplies, art classes, media information or resources, “how to” sites, etc.
Updates: Information or updates, about art, messages previously posted, etc.
Videos: If you are simply posting a video, select this category. For instance, you could add a post with a video of you during the process of creation, etc. To post videos, upload them first to your YouTube account, then, you may link to them or embed them in a post. Do not upload videos directly to ArtOnline101, because space is limited.
Post Tags (optional)
You will find the post tag box to your right.
Tags are key words that help search engines find the information. Adding tags to your post is not necessary; however, it will make your post easier to find in a search.
Post tags will not be displayed on the page or on the post.
Submitting your post
When your post is ready, click on PUBLISH!
Once it is published, everyone will be able to read it.
If there are errors on the post, you can come back to it by clicking EDIT on the POSTS section. After editing, you MUST click on UPDATE, which will be there in place of “Publish.”
