| Other Info | “The Door to Everlasting Happiness”by Kelly Adams This series of work is based on the same image. All the work in the show comes from an abstract door that resembles a figure dancing. Each piece shows improvisation from the original and different themes within the confines of this unique symbol. Opening Reception, Saturday, July 3rd, 2010, 6-9pm This is my first solo show. I have been working on a series based on an image I first created 10 years ago. Going back to the work I made for my BFA I have always used doorways or doors as a motif for expectation and curiosity. Although the symbol looks the same in each image, my approach gives each one its own voice. There are smaller themes in groups of three that allow me to go off on a tangent but still refer to the overall theme of attaining happiness. I am very proud of this work and I would love for everyone to enjoy the show! I have also invited Tim Siragusa to share the space with his new work that is a combination of obsessive drawing and watercolor. Some of this new work has been on display in our studio since May. The show runs July 3 to 30 in the Hallway gallery at the Hot Shops Art Center. For driving directions go to www.hotshopsartcenter.com The opening reception on July 3 runs from 6 to 9 and will be a great way to kick off your holiday weekend. Refreshments will be served and families are welcome. There are 2 other shows opening the same night as well as the Liquid Arts Fest for home brewers. The Nicholas gallery will host, "Out of the Woods" featuring work made from wood in a variety of processes from handbuilding to turning. The 1301 gallery will host work by Travis Apel, a sculptor who makes beautiful work from bronze and semi-precious stones. All gallery events are free and open to the public. |
